*A sanctuary is fully documented Book, DVD released *

CHENNAI: For wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers Point Calimere Wildlife

and Birds Sanctuary in Nagapattinam is a well-known destination. The

sanctuary is home to the endangered black buck and attracts thousands of

migratory birds between October and January.

A serving Indian Forest Service officer Akash Deep Baruah, who worked as the

Wildlife Warden in the sanctuary for over six years, has brought out a

publication and a DVD on the sanctuary. It was released recently in Chennai.

The 180-page hardbound publication, divided into eight chapters, has

information on topography, soil properties, climate and rainfall pattern in

the sanctuary, types of animals, migratory birds and land birds found,

vegetation and the history of sanctuary management.

The book and the DVD is available at the Chief Wildlife Warden's Office at

Panagal Building, Saidapet. For more details, contact 044-24321738.
