Guest guest Posted November 5, 2006 Report Share Posted November 5, 2006 *Sahara Time, 15th July, 2006* ** *Vasundhara Raje's assurance on elephants* *Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is on a fifteen day tour of Britain and US, has promised to take good care of elephants in the proposed 'Hathi Gaon' or elephant village at Amber in Jaipur. Raje gave the assurance at a a charity programme organised by an NGO in London, Elephant Family. Elephant keepers would also be trained to look after the pachyderms, said Raje, who was the guest of Prince Charles and Princess Camilla Parker at the programme. She said comprehensive steps, including constitution of the Elephant Welfare Society, had been taken for the welfare of elephants at Amber. Raje said elephant riding facility for tourists had been divided into two shifts to ensure better health and security of elephants. Besides, a special cell had been allotted for their treatment, she added. Lauding the work of the NGO engaged in the welfare of Asian Elephants, the chief minister said the water cooler donated by the Elephant Family had been installed.
