*Dear AAPN colleagues,*

* When the elephant polo debate

first started and we contacted Dame Daphne Sheldrick for her opinion, Help

In Suffering made an allegation that we had given incorrect information on

the proposed event, were not a reliable source and deserved to be prosecuted

for defaming Mark Shand. It was also requested that Dame Daphne retract her

statement. Well, it seems that allegation cut no ice with Dame Daphne since

she has appealed to the organisers a second time to cancel the event. Her

signature on the anti elephant polo petition site bears testimony to this :*

* As the saying goes, even if you are in a minority of one, the truth is

always the truth. The truth here seems to be that making elephants play polo

for the entertainment of a few people who have loads of money to burn is

just plain wrong. More than 100 people have now signed the petition and the

number is growing. We sincerely hope all our Indian colleagues who are

working for elephant welfare will join us in this petition to pressurise

Cartier to withdraw from this event.*

* Best wishes and kind regards,*

**

* Sincerely yours,*
