Guest guest
Hello All, Thank you for your support. Here are some links you might find helpful: http://home.ani8.com/bbs/dispbbs.asp?boardID=30 & ID=6625 & page=1 This is a post on a pet forum calling for massive transfer: An English mail for Olympic Committee with Chinese translation, also a mail of CEO of Animals Asian Foundation to the Beijing Mayor http://en.chinabroadcast.cn/2906/2006/10/26/65 (AT) 155453 (DOT) htm http://en.chinabroadcast.cn/3100/2006/10/26/271 (AT) 155306 (DOT) htm News links from Government Medias, but they omitted the 35cm gauge! To address your questions: - do you know if China kept going on killing dogs after the last 50 000 dogs killing? Those dogs are hopelessly kept alive after being confiscated. The Beijing government probably won't do a street slaughter but definitely will kill them behind the public's back - date of the next massive slaughter? Refer to the first link, the campaign is divided into 3 stages - official and unofficial reasons for it? Refer to the second and third links The cause of this Dog Cull in Beijing so far as I know is: some famous scholars who hate dogs wrote a petition saying that keep pets like dogs are bad habit and this has caused a lot of accidents and troubles, and imperil the public. They appeal for forbiddance. And most of the medias under the control of governments are also preach the disadvantages of dogs at the public. The government even stopped the pet pages of the newspapers and channels of TVs - any connection with the next olympic games? Not very sure. Haven't found the official article exactly relating that yet. natura_ng [natura_ng] Monday, November 06, 2006 9:52 PM Jill Li; aapn Re: [!! SPAM] Help the dogs in Beijing please! Hello, Let's do an example of letter and forward it for a massive cyber action. I will try to do sthg still today but i need sb to correct my english. If so wants also to write his own letter, no problem. Please send a copy on the present list. In the meantime, can sb get the email addresses of beijing municipality as well as the chinese executives. We can also try to inform the international animal protection organizations. Do you think that informing our national newspapers will help? For the letter, i need a few info : - do you know if China kept going on killing dogs after the last 50 000 dogs killing? - date of the next massive slaughter? - official and unofficial reasons for it? - any connection with the next olympic games? Please give your sources. Any expert report, photo, video highly appreciated. I will launch a new website beginning of next year about dogs killing in China for meat consumption, fur etc (with a surprising connection with the olympic games). Please do not hesitate to send me any graphic or written material free of rights. jilllee24 a écrit : To whom it might concern, I can not help raving about what is happening and is going to happen in Beijing, the city of Olympic Game 2008. The government of Beijing city, scolding there are too many dogs in the city which caused a lot accidents like biting, rabies(only 7 cases reported in the past year in Beijing, and 5 were from outside of the city), disturbing neighbors, staining the grass and vehicles, ect., has started its cruel 2-month campaign to seize, kill the dogs who have already been lived with a lot of Beijing families¡¯ and have been their best friends, family members, darling pets. Such dog slaughter had been once about twenty years ago in Beijing, and happened in some cities of ShanDong and YunNan Province too in July-August this year.Lost of families are still suffering the pain of losing their beloved friends. Dogs shouldn¡¯t be the objectives of punishment. They are innocent. Yet the government is too inefficient to improve and strengthen the regulation and the animal welfare systems. Instead they are going extremes. This time they do not only focus on those without registration, but also those big dogs (in specified central zones) like Golden Retriever, Labrador, Siberian Husky, etc., whose height exceed 35cm. How ridiculous the gauge they set, they treat all big dogs as harmful creatures. The dogs will be confiscated and their futures are doom. Please be noticed there are no animal asylums run by the government. So far, 773 dogs have been taken away from their families by the local police¡¯s special task teams. I am not exaggerating, this is true and the 2nd stage of house call checking will take place from Nov. 7, 2006. Although I am not living Beijing, I can not stand any more. I have cats, I can feel the pain of those families every time I saw the news of China Central TV1, TV2, etc. (the Chinese government¡¯s media). They took the dogs, whose eyes full of tears. Put them on a truck, leaving the heart broken parents running, crying behind. I am writing this letter calling for any possible overseas consensus. China is not an effective democratic country, people¡¯s voice are so powerless. So far as I know some people there are planning a protesting parade. But we can not expect too much on that. We need voices abroad. Your help in what ever ways will be much appreciated by those Chinese people who love small animals very much. Please help us, please be quick. Bless you all A cat and dog lover in Shanghai
Guest guest
Dear all, Thank you so much for your efforts made to help the dogs and those distressed dog lovers in Beijing. Here is another link I found other advocate's action site in the States, which includes more email links to try: http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/share_detail/68/213855 Besides, those confiscated dogs wouldn't be allow to live for long, albeit the government this time didn't show too much cruelty in front of the media when they took away the dogs. And some news even said the police are feeding them. But think about that there is no government run asylum in this country and how could they afford to raise that many dogs forever? The government this time is not going to leave any pictures because they become dodgy after the international condemnation in Aug this year. Some indicated that the poor dogs will be transferred to some other place then killed and the meat will be sold! Guest guest
Greetings, What can we do as caring individuals not living in China? I'm a US resident but like many compassionate people I care about the welfare of all animals. I have tried to share information as much as possible about the situation in China with the dogs and the inhumane treatment. I have written to the Chinese embassy and encouraged others to do the same. I have also sent letters to some Chinese authorities through organizations such as HSUS. Whenever possible, I also forward pertinent information to such organizations. I hope that some of these actions have made a difference.
