Guest guest
Dear all, RAW (Revolutionaries for Animal Welfare) along with some other Animal welfare organizations like Peta, Gspca, Ranjeet for Animals, PFA, WRRC had protested against the elephant polo match which was organised in Jaipur by Cartier on 18th Nov 2006. 15 of our activists including 11 girls were even detained by Police for protesting against the event, still our voice was heard and our message was spread everywhere that Elephants should not be forced to do un-natural things like chasing a ball in polo ground. The use of elephants in entertainment and sports industry should be banned. The polo match could not be stopped this time but our word was spread everywhere and we got a mental victory in this event. It is just a beginning and RAW will keep an eye on all the events which involve any kind of animal abuse. RAW members are thankful to everyone for supporting us in our effort. We express our sincere thanks to Mr.Azam, Ms.Anuradha Sawhney, Mr. Jaysimha, Mr., Ms.Snehal Bhatt, Mr.Naresh Kaadiyaan and Mr.Ranjeet for their kind support. Once again I would like to thank our wellwishers for their blessings and kind support. And we promise to keep the good work going. Kind regards, RAW Group
Guest guest
Dear Anupam, Well done, we are all proud of you. All movements require more youngsters like you who have the courage to speak out. It is very nice to note that you have joined AAPN. Please keep us posted and encourage all your friends and colleagues in Jaipur and elsewhere to join this list. As you say, you have the moral victory. You know it and the organisers jolly well know it. The very fact that they had to impose Section 144 to tackle peaceful protesters shows how scared they were. They were and are shivering in their boots envisaging trouble. So now we know how some people work for animal welfare and rights. They make wounded elephants play polo and they arrest their colleagues and detain them in prisons. Let us see how long their modus operandi works. Protests are a democratic method to express dissent. The largest protest I have taken part is one when George Bush came to London on 18th November, 2003, and I was part of a group of 100,000 people who walked from Trafalgar Square to St James's Park chanting 'Go back war criminal, go back baby killer'. We gathered people to join us en route. There were people from all nationalities and it was an incredibly enriching experience. There was no problem with the police and great speeches were made against the British monarchy's role in mass killing of people at Hyde Park. It was a historic occasion. ( Link here : http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/en/doc/2003-11/19/content_282738.htm ) The Jaipur protest will also be remembered as equally significant in the history of Indian animal welfare keeping in mind the similar imperial undertones and royal family involvement that caused needless suffering to captive elephants for the entertainment of a select few. And doubtless, it was equally enriching. Congratulations and cheers, On 11/19/06, raw_group <raw_group wrote: > > Dear all, > RAW (Revolutionaries for Animal Welfare) along with some > other Animal welfare organizations like Peta, Gspca, Ranjeet for > Animals, PFA, WRRC had protested against the elephant polo match > which was organised in Jaipur by Cartier on 18th Nov 2006. 15 of our > activists including 11 girls were even detained by Police for > protesting against the event, still our voice was heard and our > message was spread everywhere that Elephants should not be forced to > do un-natural things like chasing a ball in polo ground.
