Uni student kills stray cat, sees psychologist

Peking University yesterday confirmed one of its students killed a stray cat on

campus early this month, triggering a widespread debate on the Internet.

An unidentified teacher in the library of the university's medical department

said the incident was true. It was first revealed by online forums, the Xinmin

Evening News' Website reported.

 

On December 3, a little cat entered the library. A male student saw the cat,

grabbed its tail and carried it out of the library.

 

The student then plunged the animal against the wall. The cat was killed in

public. Seeing the situation, some students cried.

 

The teacher said some stray cats often slip into the heated library to take

shelter from cold. Sometimes library managers drive them out, but students are

usually friendly with the cats.

 

After the incident, the university introduced a psychologist to the student.

 

The university is still investigating the incident.
