Guest guest
Hi, off hand, I can say that tortillas (i believe both corn and flour) do not contain egg. I've not seen any, but I know the kinds I've seen here (generic store brand/other/ and low carb) do not. Some bread might. I like Aunt Millie's Indian Grain and their 9 grain (they're vegan). I'm sure there are others, but those I know for sure. I think with some noodles you have to watch for egg - rice noodles tend to be just rice flour and water (e fu noodles) I'm not sure about general pizza dough, as I think some of them may have eggs, but I usually make my own. Guest guest
Tonia, You will definitely have to call ahead and ask the restaurant. It generally depends on the individual place (even chain restaurants have slight differences). In general: - the majority of breads I have found do not contain eggs, but may contain dairy- again you need to ask - corn/ flour/ tortilla wraps in general in LA do not seem to contain eggs, but some wheat may have an egg wash to help with cooking - lo-mein noodles in general DO contain eggs. You would need to ask for the dishes with a soba (buckewheat) or rice noodle, many restaurants have dishes with these noodle types - pizza dough again depends on the restaurant. I know several that use an egg wash to brush on the dough even though it is not in the mix. Wish I could help more, but you may just need to call around and validate. Hi everyone, My company is having guests from India and they are vegetarians so my company wants me to plan where we're going to have them eat for the 2 weeks that they are here. That's great except that they don't eat eggs (so I'm assuming anything with eggs in it) and though I don't eat eggs directly I can't say I know for sure if there are eggs in certain products! Can you all tell me if there are eggs in: bread corn/flour/tortilla wraps Chinese foods (like lo-mein noodles) pizza dough Or if anyone knows a website that lists foods you'd never know had eggs in them..... Guest guest
It's not clear from your message if you're going to be cooking the meals for your Indian guests, or if you're going to be taking them out to restaurants for their meals. If you're buying the ingredients, I suppose the best way to find out if there's eggs in them is to read the ingredients list. Many food companies nowadays state at the end of the ingredients list if the product contains wheat, milk, eggs, soy, nuts, etc. To my knowledge, corn and flour tortillas do not contain eggs, but then again, it may vary by brand. Bread and pizza dough are questionable. Some brands may contain eggs. If you're going to take them to restaurants for their meals, your best bet would be to ask the wait staff or manager if a certain dish contains eggs. As a vegetarian and parent of a vegetarian child who's also on a gluten and casein-free diet, I've become used to reading ingredients lists religiously or asking about the ingredients in a certain dish at restaurants. Good luck! , " vegton " <vegton wrote: > > Hi everyone, > > My company is having guests from India and they are vegetarians so my > company wants me to plan where we're going to have them eat for the 2 > weeks that they are here.
