Guest guest
There's a called VeggiePets that might be able to help you. I fed my dogs a veg diet a while back (it took up too much time so we fell off the bandwagon, lol), and the guy who was the most informative on that group is a nutritionist. There's also a person there who has several cats on a veg diet. So I'm sure that could help you a lot. If you don't have time to do the veg diet properly (it is very time-consuming, even for dogs, who are nutritional omnivores, so cats would probably be even more complicated), look into a raw diet. I know, I know, that's the complete opposite of a veg diet, lol. It's incredibly easy and can fix tons of health problems in dogs and cats. It's what I switched my dogs to, and it's working great for them. It's nasty, nasty, nasty, but it's easy and they do well on it. chuala <chuala wrote: Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some advice about our cat. He has advanced kidney disease and is currently staying at the vets office to get him hydrated and turned around, hopefully. I was wondering if anyone had any info on putting a cat on a vegetarian diet. I am wondering if this would help lighten the load on his kidneys. Does anyone know of any studies done on this or any good veterinarians I could email to ask about this? Guest guest
Hi Carla, So sorry to hear about your cat. I was going to type out Dr Pitcairn's recipe for renal failure cats, but the book is quite old so I thought I would do a search and see if I could come up with more updated material...and I did! Sounds very hopeful and not too difficult to follow, here's the link. http://www.holisticat.com/crf.html I wish you luck and hope your friend is feeling his oats very soon. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Thank you so much for your advice and support. Unfortunately our cat was too far along to recover and we had to put him down on Friday. It has been a very difficult time for us as he was a part of our family. But I wanted to thank you all so much for care and concern. Carla
