Guest guest
thanks, These are really good ideas. I usually cube up some extra firm tofu and throw it in with some simmering sauces of various flavors and cook them. My daughter used to love it plain and would not eat it with flavoring (crazy). With my son I have come to the conclusion that he will not be as easy. I really love the idea of making it into nuggets or mixing it with yougert. thanks Tanya robin koloms <rkoloms Sunday, December 30, 2007 1:16:10 PM Re: Re: Tanya veg head for18 years I usually use 1/2 tofu and 1/2 ricotta in the bean and pasta slop. lucky13vegan <lucky13vegan@ > wrote: I am curious to know what form you have served the tofu to you son. Sometimes it is the texture that can cause little ones not to eat it. I often freeze the tofu to give it a chewier texture. Also, I'm sure you know that tofu takes on pretty much any flavor it is mixed with. You can blend it with other fruits or yogurt to make a smoothie or you can freeze it into popsicles too. You can also cut it into slices and coat them with some corn meal or wheat germ, bake them in the oven and you will have tofu nuggets - with some dipping sauces, he may like those too. Just some suggestions. .. :-) Good luck, Michele @gro ups.com, tanya wynette <wynettelove@ ...> wrote: > > Hi my name is Tanya I am 31 years old and I have been a vegetarian for 18 years now. I have 2 children, one is 10 and the other is 2. Both of my children are being raised vegetarians. We eat eggs and dairy we get our eggs from my sister (she has no roosters). Both of my children are raised with the teaching that we do not need to survive by pointlessly killing animals to survive. Our technology and advancement in our knowledge of nutrition has provided us with a fantastic opportunity to live a healthy lifestyle -meat free-. When my daughter was 7 I decided that I had provided her with all of the information that I could and I started to allow her to make her own decisions regrading her meat eating. At 8 she decided to try a peperoni pizza and she loved it. then she wanted to try chicken and she loved it. I was devastated, but I supported her. I did not want to do what my parents did to me when I decided to become a vegetarian and freak out. > Luckily my husband and I had a deal from the beginning. He can eat meat and I will not judge as long as I am not expected to buy, touch or cook it. So while my daughter was going through her phase he did all of her cooking. luckily her phase only lasted about three weeks. I find it a struggle to provide my son with enough protein he is only 2 and the Doctor will not allow him to eat nuts yet, and he HATES tofu. The pre-packaged vegi sausages he will eat, however they are filled with sodium and artificial fillers. Maybe someone has some suggestions for me. > > Well I wanted to introduce myself and say hi.
