Guest guest
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or some family friendly vegan towns on the northern east coast. From New Jersey to Main and inland. We have been to Ithaca Ny and it was great but we are looking for something with the same feel...lots of outdoor stuff to do and lots of exploring. and of course lots of vegan (vegan friendly too) resturants. Well I look forward to hearing from you! Becky
Guest guest
Becky--I know there is at least one B & B in Cape May, NJ that serves vegan food. We just LOVE Cape May. We go there every year, although up to just recently, we haven't been vegan, so I don't know any more about it. There are also several restaurants in Cape May county that cater to vegans. I've seen them listed on vegan websites that list restaurants, etc. Marilyn **************Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape. http://body.aol.com/fitness/winter-exercise?NCID=aolcmp00300000002489
Guest guest
Come to Chicago! Lots of outside and inside activities; no car necessary; plenty of vegan friendly option. veggiemamma <veggiemamma wrote: Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or some family friendly vegan towns on the northern east coast. Guest guest
Hi Becky, Boston (where I lived for 10 years) is vegan friendly. www.bostonveg.org provides info and a list of veg restaurants. It¹s also a lot of fun for families ‹ check out the Duck tours and make sure to go to Haymarket on Saturday morning. Beware of the tourist traps though. There¹s beautiful nature in the surrounding Œburbs. Now I¹m a proud resident of Montclair, NJ (about 12 miles west of NYC), which is refreshingly vegan friendly and a wonderful community overall. I think it¹s a great place to visit! You won¹t run out of things to do. Join in our weekly Demonstration for Peace/Peace Vigil on Church Street on Friday evening, visit the Chocolate Path (a store that sells only DARK chocolate), our unique book stores, and Terra Tea & Fair Trade Eco Market, a completely FAIR TRADE retail store. We even even have a bulk spice store! I love the Energy Bar, a vegan sandwich shop (the cakes ROCK), Veggie Heaven vegan Chinese restaurant, Udupi Vegetarian Indian restaurant, and the veggie menu at Tuptim Thai restaurant. Burn off those calories with a hike in the Eagle Rock Reservation, and maybe take a day trip to Manhattan (vegan capital of the World) via train or bus. We boast the Montclair Art Museum, with regular fun activities for kids. We have concerts, plays, variety shows, and other entertainment. In the spring and summer, there¹s always something going on outdoors in the parks, farmers market, and more. Burlington, VT is another vegan friendly and fun family place to visit on the N.E. Coast. Good luck! Dina Aronson On 1/15/08 4:36 PM, " robin koloms " <rkoloms wrote: > > > > > Come to Chicago! Guest guest
We loved Belfast, Maine. It's a smallish town but when we were there (about ten years ago), it had a lot of vegan options and a great co-op. I guess Helen and Scott Nearing of " Living the Good Life " (early vegans from the 1930s on) lived in Belfast and a lot of their admirers settled there as well. We loved it there and it's a beautiful town. It's not far from Blue Hill, which is also a beautiful, quaint town and Arcadia National Forest. Guest guest
Check out Middletown, CT. Great restaurant It's Only Natural (ION - google the website), and neat little college town. Movies nearby, other restaurants on Main St and Kid City aimed at 2yrs through 9 yo? Mine children are 4yo and 6yo and have a blast there. We've been going there for a long time, and I don't think they'd ever get tired of it. But we'll see. Good Luck!
