Guest guest
hi everyone i am pen, i live in australia, and i am married with two children, 4 and 2. my husband has been a vegan for 20 years, i have been for 10yrs and our children are lifetime vegans. about 6mths ago we introduced eggs and sheeps and goat cheeses to widen some food choices for the kids and it's been great. my husband works and i am a SAHM, altho i'm about to start some part-time work, based from home mainly. i have enjoyed reading some recent posts, esp about influencing others to follow a plant based diet. i found that a lot of my " baby " friends adopted a lot of the meals that i feed our kids, especially when it was time for for first foods around 12-18mths old. the veggie options were usually easy to prepare and most kids liked them. i have recently bought a breadmaker and we are enjoying our own breads and pizzas too. when we visit friends, they always provide a vegan/vege food for us (we usually take something to share too). even my mother enjoys our food and is happy with a meat-free xmas meal! i think this demonstrates, to me anyway, that we have influenced a lot of our friends family just by cooking, preparing, sharing food and recipes of vegan food. i usually buy vegan/veggie products as gifts, and recipe books are always happily received. i look forward to more ideas for kids food, especially packed lunches for kindy, and next year school. i envy a lot of the vegan products (albeit processed foods) available in the UK and US. in australia there are some available, but really we make everything ourselves (eg i can't buy vegan sour cream, i make it myself, and there's only one brand of vegan cheese which is pretty awful). i enjoy this wholefood way of eating tho, takeaway or convenience foods have never really been part of our lives, but i suspect if there were more options available we'd treat ourselves from time to time! enough of me, i look forward to getting to know all of you. regards pen
