Guest guest
thanks for all the info --- i have many spots to go to look for rest. in NYC. the problem is that there is SOOO many!!! the last time we were in the city i just picked some randomly. some were down or up many steps - a problem with a stroller. some had very uncomfortable seating for kids, some were too fancy for kids. some were really UCKY............ anyway, that is why i am not just using sites like happy cow but rather direct recommendations. thanks so much! heather Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Hi Heather, What part of NYC will you be visiting? In Brooklyn, we like V Spot (a vegan restaurant in Park Slope) and Eclipse (a Mexican restaurant in Sunset Park with a separate vegetarian menu). Both are very casual and kid-friendly. In Greenwich Village (Manhattan), you may consider getting vegan dosas from the NY Dosa Cart at Washington Square Park, falafel from one of the small shops on MacDougal Street, or a sandwich and vegan sweets from Little Atlas on West Fourth Street and eating in the park for a quick, cheap meal. (The dosa cart's been missing for a couple months now, but I'm hopeful it will return with the good weather.) Also, Dojo is a cheap, fast, kid- and veg-friendly eatery on West Fourth, if you want to sit down, but the food is just OK. Sacred Chow on Sullivan Street tends to be too small and quiet for kids, and Red Bamboo on West Fourth, while amazing, is also very small and down some steps from the street. Gobo (Avenue of the Americas) is really good and on the street level, but may not be kid-friendly, and the nearby health food store Life Thyme has a great vegan bakery and lots of quick picks in the deli case, but the seating is upstairs and there's no good place to leave a stroller. In the West Village, you may like 'Snice, a vegetarian sandwich/ coffee shop with seating - and I've seen kids there, though I haven't brought my daughter. Just know that it gets really busy at lunch time. In the East Village, Angelica Kitchen is fantastic, though a little expensive, with lots of small meals great for small bellies, and the waitstaff is always really friendly to my daughter when I bring her in. I also like Madras Cafe on Second Avenue, which would probably be kid-friendly if your kids are adventurous. Hope this provides some ideas. I'm sure others can chime in with favorite restaurants near their home/ work. Take care, Jessica _______________ Climb to the top of the charts!
