Guest guest
For the itch, Gold Bond Medicationed Lotion in the green bottle gets rid of 99 % of the itching accociated with ezema. Great product and easily found at Wal-Mart. http://www.goldbond.com/gold-bond-products.html Now it doesn't get rid of ezema, but reduces the severity of it and takes away almost all itching from it. Guest guest
I have pregnancy-induced eczema that was initially treated with cortisone ointment, which was the only thing it would respond to. The only thing that works for me prevention-wise is unscented lotion, all over from head to toe, every morning straight after I get out of the shower. I can't use scented lotions at all, as they actually sometimes burn my skin. My doc first gave me a paraben-based emmolient cream called Cetraben. I've actually got several 500ml bottles if anyone wants them! Because as soon as I read about parabens, I stopped using it. But it was great for moisturising my skin. My elbows and shoulders have never felt softer. :-) It feels icky at first, but it soon absorbs, and you get used to it after a few days. I now use something called Complex 15, which is made by Schering-Plough. In the USA, you can order it through your pharmacist without a prescription. It's amazing stuff. Completely odourless, and not at all greasy, so it absorbs almost immediately, and no icky greasy feeling while you're putting on your clothes. It's water based. I use it on my baby as well. It kept her from getting cradle cap, I think--I put it in her eyebrows whenever they got slightly flaky or crusty and dry, and the next day she was all clear again. All of her cousins have or had cradle cap, but she never got it. Again, the important part, though, is to slather yourself in it as soon as you get out of the shower, while your skin is still wet, every day like a religion. I haven't had an outbreak since I started doing this (touch wood).
