Guest guest
My (almost) 4 year old has been in her Montessori school since Sept. last year and absolutely loves it. We are vegans and when she started at the school, we wrote up a fairly comprehensive note to highlight what veganism is, what she eats, what we avoid and what to look for on labels, etc (for snack time). Her teachers have been absolutely wonderful and even though I've told them on numerous ocassions that I will provide anything they need (as an alternate to an item we don't use), they've always gone out of their way to make sure she's involved in every project, activity, etc. Several of them have actually switched to 'our' products over the animal based ones they had been using. We do keep a stash of items in the classroom fridge/freezer for special events like birthdays, etc. Word has filtered through the school that we are vegan and I now get questions from other parents/teachers about her diet - which I find very encouraging. It was very clear when we did a tour of the school that she was a great fit for the Montessori style of education. She's a very active, happy little kid who is having a great time at her Montessori school.
Guest guest
Hi Bubbatoes, Thanks for this info - this school setting sounds great, and the kind we're looking for. I'm keeping all this in mind as we search for our school. Thanks! Guest guest
Forgot to mention that they also do not get concerned with kids who aren't interested in whatever activity the group may be involved in - they're free to do what they want, when they want, or participate in the current group activity. The teachers clearly recognize that all kids are different and have different learning styles, moods, and needs on different days. The funniest story we got from her lead teacher recently was about the small group of 3-4 year olds my daughter 'hangs out with' who, when 11am hits, seem to have an unspoken agreement to put down whatever work they're doing at the time and start flitting about the room in 'fairy' mode! We really do love this school!! , " Lorraine " <ldemi wrote: > > Hi Bubbatoes, > Thanks for this info - this school setting sounds great, and the kind > we're looking for. Guest guest
Hi Bubbatoes, Very cute story! That's the kind of environment we're looking for - one where he can be as free as he is at home, but be exposed to all the learning tools, should he be interested. Thanks for sharing!
