I say this little piggy had vegi soup :) It is funny when someone else

does it to her, she just gives them 'the look'.. you know " Hey don't

you know how it goes " ?

I have not read the Hungry Caterpillar yet, but will be sure to use

the soy reference. I think I should write the author and ask 'em to

make a vegi version. LOL

I think that mentioning these things to fav. authors is great. They won't know

if we don't speak up.

Thanks for the veggie soup suggestion. I never even thought about it before,

but it makes perfect sense. My daughter doesn't know the difference at this

point (22 months) but I can see problems popping up, as I call veggie burgers

hamburgers sometimes. Just habit, I guess... Burgers would be better for all.

Thanks,

Cassie

Hi Cassie,

Well, we call veggie burgers " burgers " or we make the distinction

between " boca burgers " (which I don't care for) and " veggie burgers "

(all other burgers, unless they are a specific kind like " black bean

burgers " ) -- but since we watch tv, our son has now heard words we don't

use, and he now asks for " hamburgers " sometimes. Ugh. We've explained

it to him, and he now uses hamburgers just when he's goofing around -

and usually asks for the specific kind of burger he wants (boca, veggie,

bean, etc.). So strange how semantics are such a big deal on some

issues, but they are! I don't want the vision of poor cows as we eat

our food.

And DC, great idea to contact Eric Carle! That'd be cool to have a

veggie version . . . it's a classic book that I love dearly, but it'd be

grand to have a new version, too! :-)

Have a great day,

Lorraine

Our little piggies have whatever our boy has had that day to eat, so

most recently they had spaghetti. I think they must get all the

leftovers sitting below his chair. :-)

I have always converted all those things for Ava. (2 yrs)

We actually have piggies (so our dogs are vegetarian also), most of time we

refer to our piggies by name. :)

Too funny, as Lily will ONLY refer to toes as piggies! We think it adorable,

but as a teacher, I wonder what her teacher will say in day care next year...

Do you have these piggies on a farm, or are they your house pets? We were just

talking today about pigs, for some reason. I have wanted a pot-bellied pig for

a pet, but our first child, Rebel the 90 lb Pit bull, would eat it :( He only

has a few more lazy years left, so maybe we could get a small dog and a pig ;)

that would be great!

We have two 10 yr old Hampshires. Keagan is about 800 lbs and Sebastian is about

1000 lb. I rescued them when they were piglets. We also have five pb pigs and

lost one last year.

I do a lot of rescue and placement, so when you're ready--let me know! There

are lots of pigs needing homes! :)
