Guest guest
Hi All- Lucie, 27 mo, will be starting a Montessori program, part time, next week. She will be eating lunch there before I pick her up. In addition to the standard lunch box content ideas, I'm also looking for an actual lunch box suggestion. I'm not sure if it's particular to this school, but I think it's a Montessori thing in general, that she needs to be able to eat by herself, with limited assistance. I want something big enough to accomodate reusable containers - all the better if someone can recommend something that's not plastic! She loves soups, so I want some kinda thermos thing that is easy to use, shallow, and spoon-friendly. She likes pea soup, bean soup, and other generally non-drinkable soups. I'm looking for high calorie, low volume foods, as she's tiny, but doesn't eat a whole lot at one time. She's not a big dipper, aside from hummus. I've only been to Target so far on my quest. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks! Liz

Guest guest
Hi Liz, It's been our experience that lunch bags are only available at Target during " school supply season " in August (maybe starting in mid July). I found these really cute lunch bags in a newsletter and plan to get one for my daughter when her current bag wears out: http://www.builtny.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY & Store_Code=BN & Category\ _Code=B-MNC Robin Liz <evergnault wrote: Hi All- Lucie, 27 mo, will be starting a Montessori program, part time, next week. Guest guest
Some Japanese bento boxes are insulated, but most are plastic. My daughter takes rice to school in one I bought from the local Asian store. It is rectangle shaped. Ebay sells a variety of kid friendly bento boxes in many sizes. I can't do them justice here but please go check out the beautiful pictures of the wonderful lunches all packed up. These boxes are plastic and if you click on their FAQ page they talk more about the make up of their boxes if this is a concern of yours. They do sell thermos's however we already had some we bought at Target that worked great so we didn't purchase theirs. You also asked about lunch ideas. Guest guest
Hi all, And on the topic of the Veganlunchbox -- you must try the tofu fish sticks! The first time I made them, everyone requested them for the next night, too. Each time, I make more, thinking, " now we'll finally have left-overs " . . . but no. They go like oxygen around here! We serve them with lemon wedges and a homemade tartar sauce -- and either fries or lemon rice and green salad. Last week, our 3-year-old decided it should be a " lemony dinner " -- so we also made lemonade, too. I cannot WAIT til her new book revision comes out!!! Enjoy! Thanks! Liz
