Since several people have brought up Fast Food chain information lately,

I thought I'd (The Vegetarian Resource Group) make some clarifications.

First, McDonalds still does use beef flavor in their fries. Second, Taco

Bell does not put lard in their beans and hasn't for a long long time.

The flour tortilla and taco shells also don't have whey in them. The

present issue of VRG's Vegetarian Journal has an updated list on veggie

food at national chains including Baja Fresh, Burger King, Chipotle,

Domino's McDonald's, Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Subway, Taco Bell, and

Wendy's, etc. You can order a copy of this issue for $5 and send payment

to VRG, PO Box 1463, Baltimore, MD 21203. State you want Issue 2 2008 of

Vegetarian Journal. Debra

Debra,

I appreciate the information, but the Taco Bell is incorrect.

The cook at the Dallas airport Taco Bell physically showed me the bulk

packaging and there was lard in the ingredients. She had worked at several

stores and said that this varied by franchise and some did have it and some

did not, but I can tell you for a fact that some Taco Bells do have lard in

the beans- I saw it for myself less than 4 months ago. I understand at a

corporate level there are some decisions that they try to make, but some

franchises do vary distributors so you can not be sure unless you ask and

the individuals are willing to look and share.

Thanks,

Paige

The information on Pizza Hut is likely NOT current or accurate. My husband is

an employee there, and he tells me that all of their dough has milk or a milk

derivative in it.

Please don't quote me on this, as I PERSONALLY have not seen this information.

But definitely be skeptical and ask questions.
