Guest guest
hi Cyndi, Whilst i agree with most of the others, that there is no real need for baby shampoos/bath washes etc, I think its nice as a little treat now and then. I am not sure if you have these stores where you are, but in England we have a shop called " lush " and i love it . Well, everything is Vegetarian and most products are also Vegan (they are fantastic with their labelling!) Everything is also completly natural etc. Anyways, they do the sweetest baby bath ballistic called " ickle baby baff " , my little girl loves it, and it stops her nicking all mine stuff Have a little look at the web site: http://www.lush.co.uk/ and here is a quick link to the baby ballistic: http://www.lush.co.uk/products/Ickle_Baby_Baff_2049.aspx *hugs* Krissie
Guest guest
Please keep in mind that (at least in the US) the word natural on packaging (food, shampoo, etc.) is completely meaningless. e-coli and uranium are naturally occuring, yet you would not want either in your salad or soap. krissie <the_candy_perfume_girl wrote: hi Cyndi, Whilst i agree with most of the others, that there is no real need for baby shampoos/bath washes etc, I think its nice as a little treat now and then. Guest guest
Krissie, I agree with you completely! We bought some Dr. Bronner's Lavender for Bubble Bath Sunday. Even though we typically just bathe DS in water, every once in a while we take a nice big bath with some soap - and I love the way the lavender smell can stay with him all week, especially since we co-sleep and his head is right at my nose level. There aren't too many Lush in the US, but we just got one in Tampa so I stocked up on some bath fizzies - I like the Avobath the best. One thing to note though is that most of their soaps and shampoos (if not all) contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which cleans by corosion. Also, many of their products contain parabens which are known hormonal disruptors. I don't mean to be a downer, but just wanted to put that information out there. I asked the manager of the Tampa store if they had anything that did not contain SLS, and she said no and that all shampoos have to have SLS. That is not true - there are several brands out there that do not contain SLS. Guest guest
Lush is pretty good about labeling what is organic (meaning from biological matter) versus synthetic. They do use synthetics in their products, but at least they aren't trying to hide it. ~Susan On Apr 23, 2008, at 12:48 PM, robin koloms wrote: > Please keep in mind that (at least in the US) the word natural on > packaging (food, shampoo, etc.) is completely meaningless. e-coli > and uranium are naturally occuring, yet you would not want either > in your salad or soap. > > krissie <the_candy_perfume_girl wrote: hi Cyndi, > > Whilst i agree with most of the others, that there is no real need for > baby shampoos/bath washes etc, I think its nice as a little treat now > and then. Guest guest
Has anyone tried California Baby? It has a very low rating in the Skin Deep database. Guest guest
Of course, just because the word " natural " is on a product it doesnt guarantee that the product is indeed " natural " . But i wouldnt say having the word " natural " on it is meaningless. Lush is not perfect, it does not state that it is. But I think it is a good company and I would prefer to buy and would trust products more from them than somewhere like " asda " (this is wall-mart in the u.s). Althought they do use synthetics they state that they are " safe " synthetics, and I think there are pretty strict guidelines in the UK on this. And of course not all their products contain synthetics anyway. They only use organic fruit/veg and the finest essential oils, everything is made fresh by hand, using little or no preservatives/packaging (When ordered in the post the parcel was full of popcorn to keep everything safe instead of yucky plastics etc). Everything has a label on it telling you when and even who made it . I think this is such a nice change from the hum-drum mass production of products we are all so used to these days. The good thing about Lush is it doesn't hide things, it lists all the ingredients and even explains to you what some of the more trickier ones are, and the staff are so happy to help. Also, I think a company that uses synthetic musk is better than one that uses real musk (ewwwww). Oh, and i dont think they put e-coli in any of the products either, hehe. Anyways, like I said, its nice as a treat, if you like that kind of thing Krissie , Susan Williams <virgo.vegan wrote: > > Lush is pretty good about labeling what is organic (meaning from > biological matter) versus synthetic. Guest guest
my husband tried out one of lush's 'natural' handcreams and immediately came out in a burning rash. we just add a few drops of essential oils to the kids' bath now and then. usually they don't want anything in there to stop them from 'swimming' with their goggles on! we don't use any soaps with our children (except for dirty hands) and have been asked many times what products we use as they smell so good!! there was a dermatologist speaking on the radio here (in australia) the other day who said using soap increased the incidence of skin infections.. , robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: > > Please keep in mind that (at least in the US) the word natural on packaging (food, shampoo, etc.) is completely meaningless. e-coli and uranium are naturally occuring, yet you would not want either in your salad or soap. > > krissie <the_candy_perfume_girl wrote: hi Cyndi, > > Whilst i agree with most of the others, that there is no real need for > baby shampoos/bath washes etc, I think its nice as a little treat now > and then. Guest guest
Kathy, I bought Ca Baby Sensitive skin and calming for when DS goes out and gets in stinky stuff. I like both of them and he has no reaction to them. They claim that the Sensitive formula is safe to use even when using homeopathics. ~Susan On Apr 23, 2008, at 4:57 PM, Thomas and Kathy Hildebrand wrote: > Has anyone tried California Baby? Guest guest
We were using bubble bath and Lily's excema was getting worse. I had bought Shea butter body wash and was adding that to the water, yet it did not get better. I am now just washing her with water every 2-3 days. She stays at home and does not really play with other children. And, she doesn't roll in the dirt, so I feel the same way: soap is not really necessary. She still smells good to me! We do wash her hands with soap and on her " piggies " , they get too dirty some days naomiwilkes <naomiwilkes wrote: my husband tried out one of lush's 'natural' handcreams and immediately came out in a burning rash. we just add a few drops of essential oils to the kids' bath now and then. usually they don't want anything in there to stop them from 'swimming' with their goggles on! we don't use any soaps with our children (except for dirty hands) and have been asked many times what products we use as they smell so good!! there was a dermatologist speaking on the radio here (in australia) the other day who said using soap increased the incidence of skin infections.. , robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: > > Please keep in mind that (at least in the US) the word natural on packaging (food, shampoo, etc.) is completely meaningless. e-coli and uranium are naturally occuring, yet you would not want either in your salad or soap. > > krissie <the_candy_perfume_girl wrote: hi Cyndi, > > Whilst i agree with most of the others, that there is no real need for > baby shampoos/bath washes etc, I think its nice as a little treat now > and then.
