" Chicken pox parties " are still VERY common, actually! Many moms want to get

it over with, so they deliberately expose their kids. I didn't need to do

that--one of mine brought it home from preschool and infected everyone. My 2

month old and I both got it at that time, as I had never had it, and I could

pass along no immunity to him. Neither one of us got it bad, contrary to common

belief about adults and infants.

Years later, the younger four all got it at the same time, just as had

happened with the older four! We had one REALLY yucky night, but all was well

after that. I can't speak for everyone, but while I wouldn't go out of my way to

deliberately expose my kids to a disease, we truly didn't have any problem

with it. Obviously, if you are in regular contact with a fragile elderly

person

or health compromised child, you need to exercise extreme caution. But you

would be doing that ANYWAY, out of common sense.

I didn't get into the vaccine discussion, deliberately, because the whole

topic just gets me crazy. But here's my quick two cents. Vaccines damage FAR

more kids than are ever officially reported. Diseases can usually be prevented,

or lessened by good health practices, nutrition, essential oils,

homeopathics, etc. I understand TOTALLY why one would want to vaccinate, and

agree

totally--IN THEORY. But speak to the parent of an autistic child, just once,

and

you might be less able to believe the " party line " .

I have two, possibly three, kids who I believe have some damage from

vaccines. Not major, but it's there. I absolutely refused to vaccinate my last

child. Will not take the risk. If you DO choose to vaccinate, read the " relaxed "

vaccination schedules and cautions on the various websites. Do your homework!

Here are some guidelines, from the research I've done.

NEVER allow a child under six months old to have ANY vaccinations! NEVER

(that includes in the delivery room, ladies! Know what they're doing to your

child, and have someone else there to insure that your wishes are being met).

Wait at LEAST two years, if not four, to give their immune system time to kick

in. Never " cluster " vaccines--one single vaccine at a time. Don't let them

tell you that can't be done that way, because it can. Read the bottle AND the

package insert--and know what you are reading. Look for neurotoxins such as

aluminum products, mercury products, and anything else you might object to.

Refuse the vaccines you are uncomfortable with the ingredients on. Don't just

" go along " and play " nice mommy " ! Your child's health and maybe his life, are at

stake! You stand MUCH more risk from an MMR or DPT than you do with waiting

a few months or years to vaccinate.

i'm sorry, i wasn't referring to purposeful contamination to get the pox

over with; i was only referring to accidentally infecting someone else

because you take the child out in public. this was my exact point:

sorry for the mix-up!
