Guest guest
My son and I just found this book at his school: Chelsea's New Home By Kimberley M. Levy It's about a goldfish in an artificial pond who decides to leave the fake pond to find a real home. In the end she says, " This is where I'm meant to be, in a natural pond, and FREE. " Thought it was cute, but a goldfish wouldn't really live through most of the adventures she has on the way to the pond, but she's determined to be free, and gets there no harm done. Thought we'd share as it was a nice positive message, not only a veg*an message, but also to persue your dreams. missie -- http://mszzzi.zoomshare.com http://www.flickr.com/photos/mszzzi/ ~~~~~(m-.-)m
Guest guest
I read " Yertle the Turtle " to my daughter last night. She picked it to read to me but got stuck on a word so I just read it to her. Dr Suess really needs the rhyming to flow. It also had a being free message - Mack on the bottom decides he needs to be free & from the very bottom he brings the mighty Yertle the Turtle King down and frees all the turtles. Guest guest
That's a good one, too. We also recently were reading The Lorax, which is anti-pollution and taking care of the environment/animals. Guest guest
Last year, I taught first grade and had a huge unit on Dr. Seuss. This year I am teaching fourth grade and tonight we had the wrap up to our Poetry month " Where The Sidewalk Ends, And Beyond: A Poetry Program " . I think both Seuss and Silverstein had veggie messages in many of their works. Cassie Renee Carroll <renecarol25 wrote: I read " Yertle the Turtle " to my daughter last night. Guest guest
Check out " Victor, the Vegetarian: Saving Little Lambs " and " Victor's Picnic: With the Vegetarian Animals " . We had one that came with an audio tape that my son could listen along to as he turned the pages. He really liked these books and they have great messages.
