Thanks friends for EDUCATING me about hemp milk!.

How often can I give hemp milk to my toddler of 20 months old (now) during a

day? how many tsp of hemp seeds/ day can I give it to my toddler?I am making

hemp milk from the seeds and I am using:

3 tsp of hemp seed + maple syrup + (banana or papaya) just for the two of us

(for now, my husband is having a hard time drinking it). Today, has been the

second day that I am giving my toddler home- hemp milk. He is taking it well so

far, no complaints even when it has kind of a strong flavor.

In a previous e-mail, I was asking about combinations of food. Susan, do you

remember? Well, I would like to share with you guys how I usually feed my vegan

toddler and you can help me with your opinions about if I am doing the " right

combinations " : I do not know but I usually worry if I am doing it right....

For example this is what I did today:

Breakfast (8.am)

orange juice - Ca, vitamin D fortified (5 oz)

Hemp milk (now) (5oz)

cereal: MILLET (grains)+ OATMEAL+ KIWICHA (grains) (I use a slow cooker for the

cereals, so it is ready first thing in the morning).

As you can see, here I am combining these three ingredients. Other times I use

" 10 grains " and so on.

LUNCH (11a.m)

Soup of quinoa:

Quinoa

Kale, broccoli, zucchini, carrots, corn, celery, a little bit of onions, a

little bit of garlic, a little bit of salt.(I cooked all this vegetables, yet)

1tsp of flax seed oil that I add at his plate

A slide of bread with cashew butter

30 minutes later: apple juice (6 oz)

SNACK (3pm):

Pecans, almonds, flax seeds, blueberry, sesame seeds, maple syrup, rice milk (or

water other times), and a little bit of cereal for giving it some consistency.

All blended. Is this combination OK? I give this " smoothie " to him every day.

What I vary is the fruit and the cereal.

DINNER: (7 p.m.)

Melon (6oz)

Baked sweet potato, broccoli.

slide of bread with almond butter

apple juice

Between meals I try to give him water or fruit juice.

I hope my friends, you can forgive me being a little " into the details " But I am

just not sure if I am doing a balanced diet to my little one or my family.

So Susan and friends if you can share with me your points of view, knowledges,

and ideas..I would really appreciate it

thanks

Susan <virgo.vegan wrote: It is really

just a simple nut cream - put it in the freezer for

about 30 min to an hour before serving for a thicker consistency (or

put it in an ice cream freezer and you can eat it like ice cream)

Recipe makes 1 cup - and is suitable for vegan and raw diets

Ingredients:

1 cup raw cashews

1 vanilla bean

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup veg oil (I like using coconut oil)

1/8 - 1/4 cup agave (more or less to taste)

pinch of salt

Put cashews and 1/4 cup of water in your VitaMix (or other high speed

blender) and turn to high. Slowly add the remaining water. Next,

drizzle in the oil. This should now be the consistency of nice thick

cream. Add & blend remaining ingredients. Chill in the refrigerator

for an hour.

We really like using the whole vanilla bean in this recipe, but you

could substitute with 1 tsp or so of vanilla extract, or even almond

extract added is good. I use this as a base for a lot of ice creams -

you can put it in an ice cream freezer, then add chocolate shavings,

or almond bits, or shredded coconut - the possibilities are endless.
