Guest guest
That is awful that her parents would do that to her. The site vegetarianteen.com is a good resource and it has a part for parents. Also " Living Among Meateaters " is a great book. You could probably get a copy of the Vegetarian Starter Kit. My adult sister made me eat pork once when I was little and staying with her. Kids don't have a lot of rights and there isn't much anyone can do while they are still a minor. The have to follow the rules of the adult in charge. The few times I ate animals as a kid I threw it up afterwards. But nobody forced me to eat meat on a regular basis. A couple of accidents and the one time with my sister. What helped with my parents supporting my being veg was our family doctor. So that is probably the best resource for her would be to have a supportive pediatrician. Tonight, her mother forced her to eat chicken because " she was not getting enough protein " . What are the best resources for teen vegetarians and their families? I can talk until I'm blue in the face about whole grains and vegetable rainbows and Americans eat too much protein, but I do not have good data to pass on to the family. Thank you! Guest guest
Thank you for the information. Having a parent react this way is just so far out of my frame of reference. This is a good kid who works hard in school and the mother is working to destroy her. Renee Carroll <renecarol25 wrote: That is awful that her parents would do that to her. Guest guest
You should e-mail them the introduction the The China Study: http://www.thechinastudy.com/PDFs/ChinaStudy_Excerpt.pdf Then maybe they will buy the book and read it. It's very convincing and makes a lot of sense! Tracy On May 19, 2008, at 9:07 AM, Renee Carroll wrote: > That is awful that her parents would do that to her.
