Guest guest
I've just given up dairy. It was easier than I expected but it's only been 4 days. I've heard of all these wacky symptoms that can come up as a body unloads all that crap, but all I feel is really bloated and stomach cramps. No snot or congestion. I'm planning to start a juice fast, my first, this weekend. Suggestions, and especially experience, appreciated. Thank you. Liz
Guest guest
Liz, First, I believe congratulations are in order!! Second, I was wondering if you made any other changes in your diet? Did you simply eliminate the cow milk, cheese, yogurt, etc? Or did you add some things now that you are not eating the animal products? When I made the switch I only noticed positive affects, but I did it pretty gradually. First replacing cow milk with soy milk, then a couple months later replacing cow yogurt with soy yogurt, etc. If you switched quickly it may take time for the bacteria in your digestive tract to adjust. - Alan , Liz Vergnault <evergnault wrote: > > I've just given up dairy. Guest guest
If you did it fast, too, it takes about a week for dairy to work itself out of your system so it might just be the last 'hurrah' before it's cleared out of your system. We go through tis with our son if he gets some kind of hidden dairy (usually something we did not bring/make ourselves or if we chance something when we're out and don't know for absolute sure) we have a week of terrible stuff to deal with after even just minor ingestion (a few bites of something before he notices he doesn't feel well - he's got a milk protein allergy). Guest guest
No, I didn't add anything. I am truly surprised though at how much dairy I was consuming. I haven't had a glass of milk in many years, but I love cheese and ice cream I took my daughter for vegan sorbet yesterday and we were just as happy. (Oh, but the caramel gelato right behind it, oh...) Anyway, I feel surprisingly better today. I'm not a big yogurt person, and I had to give up the coffee altogether cause I'm just not sure about soy creamer. Anyway, thank you for your response. I'm looking forward t ofeeling better each day! Guest guest
Liz, The bloating is normal. Aloe vera juice is great to add to your detox. I use a capful a couple of times a day. Especially first thing in the morning. You can mix it into water or juice, or just take it straight. Wheatgrass is wonderful as well. You do need a wheatgrass juicer if you are juicing it at home. I like to start off with warm a fresh squeezed lemon or lime into water. Sometimes I mix them. You can mix fruit and veggies if you like. Beets are very cleansing; but use them sparingly. You may experience a headache. That is just more toxins. The best advice I can give you while juice fasting is to chew the juice. I know that sounds strange, as much as you can take your time to let your mouth taste it completely. Hope that helps. You are doing great so far!
