Guest guest
well thank you for your understanding and encouraging replies on this topic. It is good to hear that it is working out in some families and I certainly intend to do my best to keep the harmony in the family. He hasn't eaten any meat yet (I think it's been 5 days now) so the jury is still out if he is going to get sick or feel really really bad about doing it (let's hope). With this big change, I feel the strong desire to start reading up on all of the benefits and reasons to not eat meat. I was very well read and quite passionate about this cause back in college, but now it's just part of me and I don't have all the statistics fresh in my mind. I certainly know the basics but the details I need to recall in conversations are really not fresh in my head these days. I need to feel really strong and confident in my belief. Any recommendations? I'd not like to get super depressed (like from reading Diet For a New America, which I have) but want to get lot of supportive information from credible sources. I have books here but I realized they are now about 20 years old, and I'd like to read about what more recent research is saying. So, any books you would highly recommend, please shoot the titles my way - thanks. Hilary

Guest guest
Hands down, The China Study. It looks at vegetarianism from a strictly nutritional standpoint. For a wonderful video looking at vegetarianism from a mostly environmental (slightly religious) perspective, watch " A Sacred Duty " . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9RxmTGHZgE. There are a few horrid images from a feedlot towards the end, definitely not for children. Guest guest
I recommend " Living Among Meat Eaters " - it is a great book. I don't have a meat-eating husband but it has helped me deal with other relatives.
