Guest guest
(weird - did I just accidentally send my unfinished message? It all happened so quick and then my message was gone. GREAT, I probably did... I certainly wasn't finished with it, sorry. Here is the real one to read...) I'm going to get straight to the point with this one since I spent most of my free time typing up the disappearing (or sent) message (*bopping myself on the head*). First, I finally found time to read through a second time all of your replies to my " Husband goes back to eating meat after 12 years " post. Thank you all for your support and suggestions. It has helped a lot. An update, my husband has agreed to hold off on eating any more meat until he reads up on why it is so important to be vegetarian. In an earlier post I had asked for book recommendations for myself but limited it to ones not dealing with cruelty (I couldn't handle more pain at that time). I got some great titles. I've got The China Study (half way through and am amazed) and Mad Cowboy, and he will be reading both of these soon. I now need one more title to present to him and would like to know what book you think would be THE ABSOLUTELY MOST CONVINCING BOOK that would turn him around. Ones describing the animal cruelty would be perfectly fine this time - it would be a good balance combined with the two I just mentioned. It does need to be a more recently published book though. I realize I might just be postponing the inevitable, but I can't not try to stop him. This is such a strong belief system of mine and for him to go against it after 12 years is really difficult for me to " just accept it " like the logical side of me says I can do. Those darn deeply rooted emotions won't let me be okay with this right now. Thank you so much, Hilary

Guest guest
Did I recommend " Living Among Meat Eaters " ? It might be a good read for both of you. She got hold of the Skinny (female dog) book and their kitchen book also. It really opened my eyes to not only meat but chemicals (especially diet soda). And their *in your face* attitude made me want to read the book cover to cover. I know there are probably some much better books and articles out there but I thought I would just suggest those books also. I do not drink diet soda anymore, and read all labels to make sure I am purchasing the best for my family.
Guest guest
Has he seen Meet Your Meat, yet? That's what did it for me. Don't remember the web address for it, but I am sure if you google it, you will find it. Pretty horrific stuff. Guest guest
Hi everyone. I have been on this forum for a while now but I don't usually question or comment. I have been eating mostly vegetarian due to my son whom is about 4. He has not liked meat since he started eating. I didn't realize how many different options are out there since I had never looked before. I also didn't realize how healthy and how much better I feel. I try to add in some raw recipes once a week or so as well. My husband will usually add meat to his meals and I was hoping that after reading this about Meet the Meat I could show him what I have come to learn. He responded with a list of places he has been that don't treat animals that way and that could not have been form the USA because there are too many restrictions. He also stated that here we know that PETA is watching so we would not do that. Sure it may happen at one or 2 but not every place you go. Then again we have always thought PETA to be pretty extreme when it comes to their protests. I mean let's face it, throwing pigs blood on someone wearing fur will not convert them. Are there any suggestions on thing in the USA I can show him? Thanks so much! itshotinjt04 <itshotinjt04 Thursday, August 28, 2008 11:22:58 AM Re: Please help with my CHANGE THE HUSBAND'S MIND campaign! (take two?) Has he seen Meet Your Meat, yet? Guest guest
Hi, I'm not sure if this is helpful but this sure made my bf and I cringe - he's vegetarian and I'm vegan. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1282796533661048967 & q=earthling\ s+full <http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1282796533661048967 & q=earthlin\ gs+full>
Guest guest
Yes, there's an idea ... balance the books with a video or two. I'd recommend " Witness " . It's a guy talking about what led him to become vegetarian. I think your husband may be able to relate to it. Read a review here: http://www.vegetarianteen.com/videos/witness.shtml - Alan , " itshotinjt04 " <itshotinjt04 wrote: > > Has he seen Meet Your Meat, yet? That's what did it for me.
