Ben & Jerry's, PETA and breast milk

Hi,

This story sounds like a hoax to me.  (Maybe a PETA hater is trying to start

rumors and a hate campaign against vegetarians and PETA supporters!?)

For one thing, one of the reasons breast milk is so excellent is that it is sort

of tailor-made by the mother for each child.  Is that not right?

I don't think anyone - not even La Leche League - has promoted breast milk for

general human consumption.  Let alone for a huge commercial enterprise (isn't

B & J owned by Unilever?).  And as someone pointed out, would they really exploit

women that way... and how on earth would they get enough breast milk produced to

make masses of ice cream?  That is just silly.

Furthermore, I happen to live in Switzerland and I don't think the Swiss would

go to a breast-milk restaurant any more than North Americans would.  And

Switzerland happens to take extreme pride in its abundant, fresh and superior

dairy products.  The cow is a sort of symbol of Switzerland.  Especially in the

mountain areas.  I could see goat milk or sheep's milk products here, but not

human breast milk.

I could be wrong - I certainly don't understand all the ways and secrets of the

Swiss - but this sounds HIGHLY UNLIKELY to me.  I will ask around.

If anyone has what they think are any actual facts about this story - an actual,

real spokesperson for B & J or Unilever or the name of the supposed town or

restaurant in Switzerland, please do pass it on.

Regards,

Beth in Basel, Switzerland
