Melody, I have a Fagor multi-something or other. The new pressure

cookers have three safety valves, and are *nothing* like the old

jiggle-top cookers. I have used mine for 4 or 5 years now, at least

three times a week, with nary an incident. If you are the queen of

clutz, DH is the king, and he's even used it on occasion (with

explicit instructions of course) without a problem. YOU CAN DO IT! :-)

The PC is my favorite appliance next to the kitchenAid mixer.

I couldn't believe how much better the flavor of beans is after I

started making them in the PC

quart crock pots, and before i go to bed each night, i usually put on

whatever i'm goign to have the next day, cook on low, so I really

don't have to wait for anything, but some days it would be nice to

have to deal with cleaning up :P. I'm certainly thankful for canned

beans

eat grains nearly every m eal, and i have to say it gets old, it

them or something, but it would be nice to have the convenience. ..

no preservatives, throw it in boiling water and it's ready in 3

minutes or so

easier for a new vegetarian. I make my own burgers but I keep some of

the alternative products on hand because it's nice to have a tasty

quick fix meal too. Sometimes I like to perk up my spaghetti sauce

with Tofurky Italian sausage. I also enjoy the crunchy waterchestnuts

and red pepper flakes in the Asian burger by Morningstar.

Hi,

DH plans to get me a pc for a holiday gift. I have been looking at the

Kuhn and Fagor because they seem like the safest. I am leaning toward

the Kuhn turn valve for ease and the 7 qt. for size. Does anyone have

experience with the turn valve? Is it better than the other valves on

the Kuhn or Fagor? What about size? I understand most recipes are for 6

qt cookers. There is only 3 in our family and the Kuhn site said the

3.5 qt. would feed 3-5. Can I cook smaller amounts in the 7 qt. or do I

need to fill the cooker each time I use it? Does anyone have experience

using different brands and can advise which was better for her/him?

Thanks,

Carrol
