Guest guest
Vitamin D2(ergocalciferol) is, but not D3 (cholecalciferol). Guest guest
D3 is sheep sweat which is what is in dairy milk. Soy milk uses D2 which is plant derived. Guest guest
I saw one source of D3 was from coral. I don't know about it being sheep sweat, but I have seen that it was made from wool fat (lanolin). They chemically alter it to make it into D3 somehow. missie On Mon, Dec 8, 2008 at 2:05 PM, Renee Carroll <renecarol25 wrote: > D3 is sheep sweat which is what is in dairy milk. Guest guest
Which begs the question: how do they get sheep sweat? That was strictly rhetorical, so please do not share. Only D2 for us! Guest guest
The way I remember this when shopping is that D3 is the form made in the skin when the sun reacts with cholesterol ( 7-dehydrocholesterol reacts with UVB ultraviolet light). So, D3 or cholecalciferol comes from cholesterol which comes from an animal. D2 is made by plants and fungi. Ergots are another name for fungi so ergocalciferol comes from plants.
