Guest guest
In response to Cassie's post over the weekend referring to KFC's " veggie patty, " I wanted to add that a PR representative for KFC Canada did confirm for us that the patty in the Unchicken Sandwich is vegan. It's offered in over four hundred restaurants throughout Canada, mostly franchised restaurants. Some of the corporate-owned restaurants carry it, too. To the best of our knowledge, no KFC in the United States carries this product at this time. We've received confirmation from the PR firm that it can be ordered without mayonnaise. There is still some question regarding the bun which allegedly contains milk-derived ingredients. We're also hoping to receive some more information regarding how it it cooked (i.e., along with meat products or separate from them). Once we get more information from the PR firm representing KFC, (the company itself did not respond to us), we will include it in the VRG's free enewsletter which you can to at www.vrg.org. Guest guest
When PETA sent out e-mails about it originally, they said if you order the patty on a wrap with no mayo it would be vegan -- they did say at that time that the bun was not vegan. Guest guest
I think it is good of KFC to try to cross over with a healthy option, but for me, I could not patronize this establishment, as long as I know how they treat their chickens. Very sad. , Heather Hossfeld <hlh4850 wrote: > > When PETA sent out e-mails about it originally, they said if you order > the patty on a wrap with no mayo it would be vegan -- they did say at > that time that the bun was not vegan. > Heather > > Jeanne Yacoubou wrote: > > > > In response to Cassie's post over the weekend referring to KFC's " veggie > > patty, " I wanted to add that a PR representative for KFC Canada did > > confirm > > for us that the patty in the Unchicken Sandwich is vegan. Guest guest
I hand no kudos out to KFC for offering un-chicken. I believe their motivation lies in trying to get the multitude of groups who have protested and continue to do so in front of their restaurants to stop rather than offering a healthier option. It would be a much better thing to simply stop scalding the chickens alive as well as the other horrendous things they do to the chickens while they are living. Those cruel practices and must stop for me to ever say they are doing anything worthwhile. God's Peace, Gayle
Guest guest
This is why I only purchase fair trade chocolate, coffee, etc. I refuse to reward companies who use human slaves, including children. --- On Mon, 1/19/09, Gayle Nelson <dilemma5 wrote: Gayle Nelson <dilemma5 Re: Re: KFC Canada's Unchicken Monday, January 19, 2009, 9:40 AM I hand no kudos out to KFC for offering un-chicken. Guest guest
Honestly, I hadn't been in a KFC for a decade and had never thought of even trying to eat there. But I was out walking one day and needed a restroom. I entered the KFC and gagged. The smell of chicken turned my stomach so badly that I walked right back out. I don't understand how a vegan/veggie could even try to eat something from KFC.
