I normally throw them into a coffee grinder or use a rolling pin.

Good Luck!

I do mine in a magic bullet type of blender. YOu can also try a very

clean coffee grinder if you have one (they're pretty cheap and I used

to have one for grinding whole spices when I was in college, but it's

since gone away).

They might also sell powdered fennel, or ground fennel at the grocery store.

I haven't ever done this either. I would look for crushed fennel in

the store, :-)

I bet a coffee grinder would crush it pretty well too. Good luck, let

us know what

you try/find.

I am making the savory sausage recipe you mentioned ( by Paula)but it does not

say where to add or mix the tomato paste. is the tomato paste mixed in with the

spices? and then patties are rolled into it or does tomatoe paste go in with

with potato flour and black eyed peas?

thanks

Ya know, I think I just left it out, but I would think it gets mixed

into it, maybe add it little by little to be sure the texture doesn't

get too wet.
