Guest guest
I have virtually no knowledge of pop culture and don't pay any attention to celebrities. --- On Thu, 2/19/09, Jacqueline Bodnar <jb wrote: Jacqueline Bodnar <jb celebrity vegetarians Thursday, February 19, 2009, 6:20 AM Anyone besides me ever question all the people that are named as celebrity vegetarians? I'm often skeptical. And here's exactly why - I have read for a while that Jennie Garth (Beverly Hills 90210 fame) is a vegetarian. If you do a google search for " jennie garth " vegetarian you get over 50,000 references saying she is a vegetarian. Even PETA touts the fact that she is a vegetarian and supporter of theirs. Low and behold there is an interview with her in the February issue of Energy Times magazine. It's a q & a format interview. They ask her if she's a vegetarian and she replies that she is not. She eats chicken and fish. She also goes on to say " ...I have to get some protein in and the best way for me to do that would be to eat chicken or fish. " I just updated Wikipedia. Hopefully others will update their site. This is just exactly what happened with Alice Walker (The Color Purple). Everyone lists her as a vegetarian. Yet just a few months ago she was in an interview in a vegetarian magazine where she said she not a vegetarian! And they still kept her in the magazine to perpetuate the myth that she is... go figure. Another one - for years I heard Drew Barrymore was a vegetarian. Then she was on the late night show and they asked her if she was. She said no, that should never give up bacon! The moral of the story: be leary about all these " celebrity " vegetarians you hear about. Many of them are unfounded rumors. I would only believe it if you hear it come out of the person's mouth themselves! Jacqueline
Guest guest
I don't have much knowledge of celebrities, either. I do know that several of them- often the vegan ones, it seems- are pretty vocal. Alicia Silverstone, for one, gave a rather eloquent plea on The Graham Norton Show sometime in the last year or two. My guess is that this issue re:celebrities is like any other- the media often prints all kinds of stuff without regard for the actual facts. And PETA certainly has an interest in 'claiming' as many celebrities as possible. --- On Thu, 2/19/09, robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: robin koloms <rkoloms Re: celebrity vegetarians Thursday, February 19, 2009, 6:38 AM I have virtually no knowledge of pop culture and don't pay any attention to celebrities. --- On Thu, 2/19/09, Jacqueline Bodnar <jb@jacquelinebodnar .com> wrote: Jacqueline Bodnar <jb@jacquelinebodnar .com> celebrity vegetarians @gro ups.com Thursday, February 19, 2009, 6:20 AM Anyone besides me ever question all the people that are named as celebrity vegetarians? Guest guest
It could be that the celebrity says something along the lines about wanting to be vegetarian or " trying it out " . Since they don't stick with it or just don't do it, their words are twisted into making them veggies and no one corrects the assunption that they are. I had also heard that Drew Barrymore was one. Maybe she tried it out and found that no bacon wasn't worth eating healthy! , jenni claire garverick <jennigarverick wrote: > > I don't have much knowledge of celebrities, either.
