Guest guest
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with Reflux and which foods agrevate /alleviate it. I've done a lot of online searching but have found VERY conflicting information regarding various veggies, fruits and grains. also it mentions beans, and fermented things like temphe ,tofu as do not eat, so I am getting very frustrated as to what to eat being a vegaatrian! This is a new problem for me brought on by pregnancy but is becoming unbearable no matter what I seem to eat. if anyone has any advice would appreciate! ~Danielle

Guest guest
Hi- The good news, it is temporary, since it was brought on by pregnancy. I don't know how pregnant you are, but I always seem to get this between months 5-7 or 8, and then once the baby sinks a bit, the pressure is relieved on the stomach and it disappears. At least, this is my experience, across my 3 kids; I'm currently pregnant, too, and just started having this issue, again. In my experience, it's not a 'what you eat' thing, with one notable exception: Trader Joe's veggie meatballs. Since it's caused by pressure of the baby on the stomach, it's not like traditional reflux. I take some antaids when necessary. I've also found papaya chewables helpful. The big thing for me is to try not to lie down for awhile after eating, and try to eat smaller amounts of food. Hope some of this helps! jenni ________________________________ mylameoww <mylameoww Thursday, February 19, 2009 5:30:07 PM veg. Guest guest
Also, stay hydrated -- drink plenty of water throughout the day. But not during meals if you can help it. A glass of water 30 minutes before a meal is perfect and depending on what you eat, 30-90 after a meal is good too.
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. That's a good point that maybe what I eat may not be as big a issue since it's probably due to pressure from the baby. I am 6 months right now so hope it will get better as you mentioned. I will try the papaya enzymes because no matter what I eat or how little it all seems to come back up/ and just sit in my stomach. Guest guest
Oh, yes. You're at the peak of reflux right now, give it another month or two and you'll feel better. Sure, you've got your temporary discomforts, but it's all worth it in the end! jenni ________________________________ mylameoww <mylameoww Sunday, February 22, 2009 9:57:24 PM Re: veg.
