Guest guest
I suggest you go to http://feeds2.feedburner.com/VegetarianFoodForThought and have him listen to some of those podcasts. There are plenty of them that are informative about where to get nutrients, etc. I think becoming vegan would be AWESOME for his health, eating meat and animal products would not be good for him at all. Guest guest
How it all Vegan and La Dolce Vegan are two great vegan cook books. I also like anything by Nava Atlas. Your husband can reverse heart disease by reading and implementing Eat to Live. On Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 3:02 PM, Laura Ballinger Morales < lballinger wrote: > I was hoping this group could help. Guest guest
Hi Laura, It is so great that your husband is now willing to try more foods. So sad that he was so picky for so many years, missing out of a lot of wonderful foods and damaging his heart! Perhaps if he is educated about his condition and what can be done to reverse it, his taste buds will change. Please google " Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., MD " Here is his website (buy the book!): http://www.heartattackproof.com/ and there are some great talks of his on the web that you and your husband can watch: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5215695644951404318 I've seen him speak in person. He is WONDERFUL! And his wife has come up with some great recipes, as well. He has a 100% success rate, curing people of heart disease with diet. Also check pcrm.org, Dr. Fuhrman... There are others, but this is a start. Good luck, I hope he feels better soon. Tracy P.S. Can you put veggies in spaghetti sauce -- carrots, spinach, etc? He needs to go as low in fat as possible, and NO cholesterol! How about a wrap made w/ hummus on a ww tortilla w/ lots of veggies? Here is a recipe for a baked wrap from Dr. Esselstyn's wife, Ann (it is SOOOO good!). You can make them Mexican or Italian style. Also, a recipe for salad dressing using hummus (she makes her hummus w/ NO tahini to get the fat level very low): Ann’s Baked Spinach Wraps 1 Ezekial tortilla (or other) Spread w/ hummus Sprinkle with chopped/shredded cilantro or basil, green onion, carrots Top with as much fresh spinach and arugula as will fit Sprinkle on some frozen corn and jarred salsa or pizza sauce Roll up tightly Toast for 10 minutes at 450 (400 for toaster ovens). Yum! Hummus Salad Dressing 2 T Hummus Add a squeeze of lemon Add a squeeze of Bragg’s Aminos Grate in some ginger (optional) Add some Flax Seed oil Bit of OJ (optional) Bit of spicy brown mustard (optional) Bit of Rice Vinegar (optional) On Feb 23, 2009, at 12:02 PM, Laura Ballinger Morales wrote: > I was hoping this group could help. Guest guest
Hi all. I watched the heartattackproof video last night. I have a question about the 'no oils!' part though. I thought we needed oils for our skin to be healthy. Is this not true? Any linkage will be greatly appreciated ;-) My mom went on a drastic diet change about 10 years ago, and she was only drinking water, eating fruits and veggies all day, she did have a tuna sandwich for lunch and a beef soup for dinner which was mostly broth. Her hair became very dry and brittle, and her skin became very dry too. I thought it was because she was not eating 'healthy' oils. Thanks for reading, and any input.
