Guest guest
Have you tried the creamers by Silk? They're thicker and sweeter than regular soymilk so more like dairy-based creamer; they're more satisfying than just using a plant-based milk. They also come in a couple of flavors; I really like the hazelnut flavor. I rarely drink coffee but when I do I like to use these creamers. Guest guest
I don't know if it was on this list or another one, but they also apparently have a 'coffeehouse creamer' (by Silk) for making cappuccinos at home (if you have a machine) it's supposed to work better to get foamy, but I've not tried it. When I used to put 'milks' in my coffee, I used silk. They are very sweet, I don't think there's a plain one if you're not looking for sweet, but just to lighten (I think different brands of soymilk I liked better than the creamers sometimes - though I was partial to hazlenut when I did use them). I just switched back over to tea, which I tend to prefer over coffee anyway (my new standing favorite is Earl Grey Green Tea). I discovered that the reason I liked to put so much 'stuff' in my coffee was to counteract the bitterness of the caffeine. I still drink coffee on occasion, but I don't put anything in it at all anymore. LOL Missie On Sat, Feb 28, 2009 at 12:08 PM, chandelle <earthmother213 wrote: > Have you tried the creamers by Silk? Guest guest
I prefer rice or almond milk in my coffee; soy milk sometimes seems to curdle when it gets hot. --- On Sat, 2/28/09, Connie <conniemm wrote: Connie <conniemm Creamer replacement and " refried " bean recipe Saturday, February 28, 2009, 11:00 AM Hey everyone, I enjoy reading your posts. Also, I wanted to share a great crockpot recipe. These Refried Beans Without the Refry are wonderful and are a staple in our house. My 10 year old son will eat burritos almost any time and I wanted to find a good recipe for beans to save money and use organic beans. I first made them when I was having a big party where I had a burrito bar. For our regular home use, I freeze half of the recipe and the other half keeps in the fridge for at least a week. http://allrecipes. com/Recipe/ Refried-Beans- Without-the- Refry/Detail. aspx I've modified the recipe a bit to suit my son's taste as follows: I use 1/2 tsp. pepper, no jalapenos, 6-8 cloves garlic, 7 cups water, 3 tsp. salt. Guest guest
I use the Silk creamer, available in the dairy refrig section of many stores. If you are stuck using soy milk in a restaurant or something, try adding the soy milk to the cup and then pouring in the coffee. If the soy milk " curdles " in the coffee, but adding it to the coffee, I noticed that you don't taste the soy milk at all, just coffee, unless you keep stirring it. Also the taste depends on the creaminess and sweetness of the soy milk. The creamier the better, I would think. Guest guest
I like the soy creamer sold at Trader Joe's. It's inexpensive and doesn't contain any hydrogenated oils. Wildwood also makes one too. , robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: > > I prefer rice or almond milk in my coffee; soy milk sometimes seems to curdle when it gets hot. > > --- On Sat, 2/28/09, Connie <conniemm wrote: > > Connie <conniemm > Creamer replacement and " refried " bean recipe > > Saturday, February 28, 2009, 11:00 AM Hey everyone, > > I enjoy reading your posts. > > For those of you who drink coffee and put " milk " in it, what do you > use? Guest guest
There are three flavors of silk: hazelnut, French vanilla, and plain. The first two are sweetened, the plain one is not. They work very well in coffee and are what I use when I drink coffee. Guest guest
I also like the Trader Joe's version of soy " creamer " I like the Silk and will use it when I can't get/run out of TJ's...but I prefer the TJ's version. I have tried lots of different " milks " in my coffee, but the soy creamer is my favorite. (though the hemp milk wasn't too bad...) Guest guest
Alas, we have no Trader Joe's in our area. It must be a pretty good place since I read about on many lists. What I would like to find is a vegan powdered creamer that I can take to work with me (no fridge there and too much hassle to do an ice chest). Anyone know of a powdered version? God's Peace, Gayle

Guest guest
I have never tried the powdered non dairy creamers when I drink coffee I drink it black but over the years I have seen a few types at veganessentials.com,pangea.com and foodfight.com . If memory serves sammis best and Soygo (?) both make 1 I think ..my advice would be to search the vegan online stores . hth's Teresa Please check out my ebay store http://stores.ebay.com/Coastal-Clearance-and-Closeouts " Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. Guest guest
Ooh, when I was in college we used to go to the coffee stand on campus and get fancy coffee drinks with coconut flavor in them - coffee + coconut = YUMMY! I guess I could skip the syrupy stuff and just put in coconut milk! (Soy Delicious has an amazing line of coconut milk yogurts - they have all be amazing - I love the plain one as well and put in some chocolate syrup and had a chocolate-coconut yogurt that was out of this world LOL). Ok I may have to re-think my not liking coffee so much anymore.
