Guest guest
We got rid of our car (well an accident helped, but we've been talking about it for years) two months ago and people keep asking if we've found a new one yet. We aren't looking. We don't want a car. I think it is a hard concept for a lot of people, but more and more people are aware of environmental issues and that makes me hopeful! I would love to find such a group, too. I'm about ready to sell my house, sell my car and move to the woods to tend my own garden and say to hell with the world. If you find anything, let me know. Guest guest
We too have no car (for just over a year) for similar reasons subframe was destroyed by one of the 600000 Chicago potholes. We also just got out from under our house (a good move as it's cheaper, better schools, more kids in the area and the school does a CSA as a fundraiser so it makes up for the lack of a yard, we are w/in walking distance to downtown libraries, movies, etc close to busses and the el for going to the city and airport). I would be happier with the lack of car had I not had to quit my job (school photographer) since there was so much travelling involved (and not worth the cost of renting/IGO car). But then we've not had it and we do special trips with the IGo (oh yeah we are also fairly close to those too). It has been an interesting (and good) year, but I would have preferred the whole not losing my job part of it. I am liking the move though, as I always have loved the city we are in now, and we are close to so much (farmers market in spring and fall, too!) Sent from my G1 phone!
