Guest guest
There is not an answer to this question. Height and weight should be proportional (and are not related to meat/not meat). Activity and developmental milestones should be met. You may want to get Super Baby Food, or a similar book, from your local library; it has great suggestions on feeding toddlers and nutrition. --- On Tue, 3/10/09, jefferymhill <jefferymhill wrote: jefferymhill <jefferymhill 18 month old weight Tuesday, March 10, 2009, 10:53 AM What is a healthy weight for a 18 month old girl who doesn't. Guest guest
Your doctor should be able to give you the children's height/weight chart so you can see if she's proportional- i.e., if she's 50th % in height, she should hover somewhere around that for weight. To ease your mind, my 2.5 year old weighs about 27-29 lbs, while my 10 month old is 22 or 23 lbs. Yes, the 2.5 y/o old is quite petite, while the 10 month old has earned the nickname 'Moose'. So it's really an individual thing. ________________________________ robin koloms <rkoloms Tuesday, March 10, 2009 12:18:37 PM Re: 18 month old weight There is not an answer to this question. Guest guest
Be sure to use the WHO chart rather than the standard US chart (based on the SAD): http://www.who.int/childgrowth/standards/en/ According to them, the 50% percentile ( " average " ) 18 month old girl weighs approximately 22.5 pounds. (You have to convert from kg to lb.) In other words, your daughter is just slightly above average. Nothing to worry about! Liz
Guest guest
As others have said it is best to look at weight and height and growth instead of just one point in time...they go through growth spurts and things and also a drastic drop down the charts can be a concern even if a child is in " normal " range. That said, I would also look at energy level and appearance and never go on the charts alone...does the child look healthy and active? I'm guessing you don't have anything to worry about. My 18 mo. old girl is 25 lbs. around 31 inches or so...without looking at the charts, I would says she is about average. Guest guest
My son who is 3 1/2 weighs 32 lbs. He is usually around 10% only for weight, but when you look at the adjusted chart for weight vs. height he is around 50-75%, depending where he is on his growth spurts. Both my husband and I are shorter, but we do have fairly tall family members. It will be interesting to see what he turns out to be. On the other hand, my first born-a girl-has always been around 75% or above for weight only, and much taller for her age. Each child has their own norm. You doctor should be able to help you determine if there is something to worry about. Keep in mind though, we are very focused on weight in this country. Many studies indicate that lower weights are actually healthier.
