Guest guest
Hi there, Not sure if this is the place to bring this up, but thought might be Ok by some of the past topics. Anyway, I have lots of friends who like to participate in fundraising walk and runs etc, that unfortunatley almost always support groups that fund animal research. This is something that I am personally not able to support. How do you think this is best handled? Usually I just don't contribute, and sometimes will explain why but I always get response like I am crazy. Even from my own husband when I refused to go to one with him that his work was doing. Has any one else had to deal with this isssue?? Thanks ~Danielle
Guest guest
Yes, what I do is donate to a cruelty-free charity that is about the same " cause. " So for example, some friends of mine did a walk for Breast cancer, and it was for a charity that funds animal research, which is not only cruel but far less effective. So I donated, in honor of my friends, to 2 other breast cancer charities that DO NOT fund animal research. One friend was very receptive, and said she had never even thought about it before, so it was good I pointed it out to her, and the other friend was more like, " whatever. I appreciate whatever you want to do towards finding a cure. " But either way, now you look like you still care about people and want to donate, but want your money to be used ethically and for the most good, not wasted on animal research. This is the website I use to find out which charities are bad and which are good: http://www.humaneseal.org/ _____ On Behalf Of mylameoww Monday, March 16, 2009 7:52 PM Charities Hi there, Not sure if this is the place to bring this up, but thought might be Ok by some of the past topics.
