Guest guest
I just weaned my 13 month old daughter, and having trouble getting her to drink milk... She has whole milk in her baby cereal, and loves the yo baby yogurt, but I'm not sure if thats enough. I don't need her to drink cows milk, but I do want to make sure she gets all the fats and calsium she needs. Any advice/tips? Thanks, Kim
Guest guest
whole milk in her cereal... cow's milk? Calcium is in broccoli, dark, leafy greens, enriched cereals and alternative milks (soy, hemp, rice, almond) Breast Milk is sweet, and cereal and yogurt are sweetened. I am NOT saying to sweeten your milk, but many alternative milks are slightly sweetened. Good luck, Cassie --- On Fri, 4/3/09, kimguest1 <kimguest1 wrote: kimguest1 <kimguest1 baby and milk question Friday, April 3, 2009, 2:24 AM I just weaned my 13 month old daughter, and having trouble getting her to drink milk... Guest guest
How recent was the weaning. When i weaned my daughter at 17 months she would not drink anyting that resembled milk, just water and a little diluted fruit juice. but would eat food with rice, or goats milk. my pedes said its a natural rejection to the recent weaning. i waited a while like she suggested and she eventually began drinking it from a cup. as for calcium if she is eating leafy greens, or some red beans (i think), then she'll be fine for now. we do use liquid calcium now though because my girls are completely wheat and dairy free due to food allergies. but a temporary protest is not harmful. unita ________________________________ kimguest1 <kimguest1 Friday, April 3, 2009 2:24:43 AM baby and milk question I just weaned my 13 month old daughter, and having trouble getting her to drink milk... Guest guest
Hi Kim, There are lots of great sources for calcium and protein (most Americans get too much protein). Avocado and flax oil are two great sources for fats; animal fats are definitely the least healthy. There is a book called Super Baby Foods that you should be able to get through your local library, and great online sources as well. try www.pcrm.org www.vrg.org and www.vegweb.com Robin --- On Fri, 4/3/09, kimguest1 <kimguest1 wrote: kimguest1 <kimguest1 baby and milk question Friday, April 3, 2009, 1:24 AM I just weaned my 13 month old daughter, and having trouble getting her to drink milk... Guest guest
I weaned her two weeks ago. I've tried offering her cows milk, toddler formula, and soy milk. She doesn't want any of it. For breakfast I give her baby cereal with cows milk, while she feeds herself cherrios with milk, so I'm hoping the flavor will grow on her. I've stopped giving milk from a cup, but will try again soon. Luckily she's a good eater. And she seems to always be hungry, now that she's not breastfeeding anymore. I'll look into cooking/using flaxseed oil, and dust of my super baby food book =) Thanks for the advice, Kim , unita walburn <uwalburn wrote: > > How recent was the weaning.
