Guest guest
Hey Renee - Thanks for bringing this up. About a year ago, I searched BK's website for french fry ingredients and they contained " chicken flavoring " which they said was some sort of amino acid from the chicken. When you put up this post, I did some more searching and found that they actually did used to put it in their fries, but recently changed their ingredients. Now the fries are free of animal products. , Renee Carroll <renecarol25 wrote: > > Show me where you got the BK fries thing. > > Our veg-friendly fast food places that we frequent are Burger King, Taco Bell and Subway. > > BK - was endorsed by many veg groups when their veggie burger was vegan. Now that it is vegetarian - I don't hear any groups promoting it anymore. But according to their website all the fries ingredients look vegetarian to me. And there is no mention of chicken fat in the fries in the ingredient list. And BK also says that they have a " French Fry Only " fryer that fries are always cooked separately in. It seems like BK does a good job accomodating vegetarians -- vegans not so much-- but they have mac/cheese, french fries, apple fries, veggie burger, side salad that are all lacto-ovo vegetarian friendly. > http://www.bk.com/#menu=3,3,-1 > Renee > > > > ________________________________ > iluvk5 <skerns > > Wednesday, April 8, 2009 8:26:31 AM > hidden animal products > > > Here are some things we've discovered.. . > > -beef flavoring in McDonald's french fries > -chicken flavoring in Burger King's french fries > -lard used in refried beans at Mexican places > -chicken stock used in rice at Mexican places and Tumbleweed Restaurants > -gelatin in many kinds of candy > -cholicalciferol vs. ergocalciferol (sp?). Guest guest
It is important to note that even though the fries no longer contain this additive that the oil used for other things is often used in the preparation of them. My daughter used to work for Burger King told me that this often happens.
