Guest guest
Dear Ms. Sager: I came across your inquiry in a forum for vegetarian parents. I truly believe that picky eaters are created, not born; I also believe that vegetarian parents are much more likely to raise children who understand the importance of, and have developed the life-long habit of, eating at least seven servings a day of whole grains and of fruits and vegetables in a rainbow of colors (as we all, vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, should do every day). While all children go through picky phases, they pass (most easily with humor and patience on the part of the parents). When parents complain: " my child only eats mac and cheese and chicken nuggets " , I guarantee that a) this is what the parent buys and b) that the parent does not set a good example of healthy eating for the child. If picky means not eating chemical laden, highly processed foods and meat, then I have created a picky eater. Sincerely, Robin Koloms
