Guest guest
Does anybody participate in this, and could give me any input about it? I am considering it and hoped to get some input on cost and production expectations. Thanks!~Danielle
Guest guest
Hey I had looked into one that is in Athens and the price was pretty good. I know that if you are hurting for money they said that they would allow you to work to take off some of the cost. From what I hear they get a pretty good turn out of veggies and allow you to do either a spring harvest or summer harvest depending on what you want and then you can also pay for both and get all the bounty for the spring and summer. , " mylameoww " <mylameoww wrote: > > Does anybody participate in this, and could give me any input about it? Guest guest
It might be best if you find local CSAs and speak with them. Local Harvest is a great way to find them. www.localharvest.org --- On Mon, 4/13/09, mylameoww <mylameoww wrote: mylameoww <mylameoww CSA Farming Monday, April 13, 2009, 11:46 PM Does anybody participate in this, and could give me any input about it? Guest guest
We just joined one. Set up a group through our local PTAs (elementary school, middle and high school) and sold 75 shares in a local farm/CSA. We are very excited and can't wait until the first week in June for our first pick up. Just took my 5 year old out there to see the soil turned. Will make a great impression when we go back and see OUR food being grown. __________ Free quote and debt consolidation information. Guest guest
Hi Danielle, We love, love, love our CSA! We belonged to the same one in college, then after college, bought a house, convinced ourselves we'd grow our own food, and then when that didn't work, we rejoined the CSA a few years later. :-) You can check out our weekly box contents this week at www.bewiseranch.com/picklist.htm. It's always more food than we can eat in a week - we get the small box weekly and have two adults and a 4-year-old and two pets who eat a little of the veggies. It's $25-30 a week, and well worth it! I comparison shop in the hfs every now and then to see what the organic veggies/fruits would be if we bought them at the store, and it always ends up being the same price or cheaper to belong to the CSA. Plus, you get to support local organic agriculture and have a link to the farmers. And we try new things we'd never heard of before - mizuna, for example. :-) Good luck and enjoy!
