Guest guest
I am needing a new blender and am debating whether to get a Blend Tec or Vita Mix. I am wondering what others have found? Sheila B
Guest guest
I've never heard of Blend Tec, but I've had a Vita Mix for about 5 years now and it still gets used at least once a day, usually multiple times. I've had no problems with it and it is awesome -- I can add hard nuts to a smoothie and within a few seconds you'd never guess they were there. It allows me to finely grind seeds and nuts that I use to replace some flour when I make muffins and things for my kids. We've been really happy with it. Guest guest
I've had two VitaMixes. the first one lasted over seven years. and the second one I've had just over a year. They have great customer service and a solid warranty. But, I've heard good things about the BlendTec, too. I think it's 3 HP, whereas the VitaMix is 2 HP. Although, there hasn't been much the VitaMix hasn't been able to do. I made pumpkin seed " butter " in it all the time for my son who is allergic to nuts. It survives that and keeps on going. We make a lot of smoothies, banana " ice cream, " hummus, etc. Lots of fun! Good luck with your search, and if you get the BlendTec, let us know what you think! *^*^*^*^*^*^*^* Tara J Petite tara www.petite.net On Behalf Of juliatwo2001 Wednesday, April 22, 2009 9:46 AM Blend Tec Blenders vs Vita Mix I am needing a new blender and am debating whether to get a Blend Tec or Vita Mix. Guest guest
We have a vitamix and we love it. My husband has made soup, soy chocolate pudding, nut butters. Very easy clean up and it does " cook " soup. On Wed, Apr 22, 2009 at 6:46 AM, juliatwo2001 <wife1 wrote: > > > I am needing a new blender and am debating whether to get a Blend Tec or > Vita Mix. Guest guest
My sister's vitamix is still going strong after 20 years; it gets used at least once a week. --- On Wed, 4/22/09, Tara J Petite <tara wrote: Tara J Petite <tara RE: Blend Tec Blenders vs Vita Mix Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 12:27 PM I've had two VitaMixes. the first one lasted over seven years. and the second one I've had just over a year. Guest guest
I have tried several times to make nut butters in my VitaMix and they never work. It ends up very crumbly despite adding oil and agave nectar. Once it gets to that stage the blades just start turning and make an air hole in the stuff so nothing is being churned through the blades. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I've tried it with multiple kinds of nuts (and both raw and roasted) and never had success. Guest guest
I've had my Blendtec since Christmas and LOVE it. Have been raving that it's the best thing I've ever bought. I've also been eating mostly raw food so I've been using it about 2-3 times a day, some days more. There was a marathon day where I counted using it 9 times (I don't usually have the time to prepare that much food but it was a vacation day off work and what did I do? Use my Blendtec What I like best: * it's not mega tall so it can be scooted back on the counter to fit under the cabinets * I like the pre-settings. For example, for green smoothies, I just hit the #4 and clean up while it's blending. It's pretty fast so I have to work quickly. * easy to scrape food out, if needed, with the walls of the container being square. * lid comes off easily but yet seals the stuff in pretty well * easy to clean * it works really well. It can be loud which I thought was going to be a problem with my sensory-challenged kids but they've adjusted, especially since it's sometimes only on for a few seconds. They know it won't be on for minutes like in the old days with my Kitchenaid. Love my Blendtec!! Got it off Amazon, a former demo model which helped me save about 100 dollars (US). (Came with a new canister and lid - only the motor was previously used). HTH! Angelique
Guest guest
are you putting the nuts in 1st or the liquids? try the liquids 1st and slowly add the nuts or seeds. unita ________________________________ Heather Hossfeld <hlh4850 Wednesday, April 22, 2009 10:07:37 PM Re: Blend Tec Blenders vs Vita Mix I have tried several times to make nut butters in my VitaMix and they never work. Guest guest
Our biggest concern with the Blend Tec is the lack of a tamper for things like nice thick pure fruit ice cream. Reviews we have read say that people wish they had a tamper for this. Anyone with any experience with this? We are leaning towards the Vita Prep 3 as a result.
