The protest against the killing of dogs in Bangalore has reached the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Animal lovers from various organisations on Sunday sought the immediate intervention of President A P J Abdul Kalam to stop the inhuman drive in the IT city. In a memorandum to the president, a group of NGOs appealed to him to use whatever powers vested on him to stop the “senseless slaughter” of dogs. The NGOs — Animal Saviours, People for Animals, Sonadi Charitable Trust and Citizen for Welfare of Animals — said that the barbaric act of the authorities has destroyed the image of the country. “It has made us to hang our head in shame,” the memorandum said. The animal lovers called upon Mr Kalam to initiate action to end the killings.
