Guest guest
I have fought off sinus infections for the last few years (I used to get 2-3 a year) without antibiotics, though not naturally. I take sudafed (the real kind, that you have to sign for, but the " house brand " ) in the morning, dye free bendryl at night (again, not the name brand), and drink lots of peppermint (a natural decongestant) tea and emergenC. This year, I decided not to take any antibiotics and just let the infections run their course. I've had four infections this year and have recovered naturally with only my wonderful neti pot, herbal supplements, and vitamin c. I currently have a sinus infection that is pushing me to the edge - especially with the holidays approaching. I am so, so close to having my doctor call in an antibiotic for me. This infection has lasted 8 days now with absolutely no relief at all. My questions are - 1. Being a vegan, should I worry about anything in the antibiotics? 2. Should I resort to antibiotics or is there another natural remedy I'm missing? Thanks for any help!
Guest guest
If you are still having symptoms after 10 days then yes, go to the doc. If you are running a fever right now or the mucus is turning brown and very thick. Go to a doc today. This is just my opinion and just advice. For me being Vegan/Vegetarian shouldn't matter when it comes to antibiotics and your health. Guest guest
HI, I have only had a few sinus infections-almost always after a cold. What worked for me both times was raw garlic. I swallow a clove whole (well, peeled of course) with some carrot juice or tomato juice. Do that two times a day until it clears up. Garlic has anti-microbial properties (is effective against bacterial and viral infections). It worked for me! You don't have to drink it with the juice, but it goes well together and then you also get the antioxidants from the juice (particularly the tomato). Hope that helps!
