Guest guest
dear friends, i work for an Association of Scientists by name Care Earth which is based in Chennai, India. while we undertake research and advocacy on a range of biodiversity conservation issues, rescue and rehabilitation of animals stray/abandoned inside the city is a major committment. we have rescued dogs and found homes for them. we also maintain a small aviary sheltering birds that cannot be sent back into the wild. we naurture abandoned nestlings till they are able to fly free. of late we have raised a number of pigeons (feral) that have been dislodged from the windows/balconies of high rise buildings deliberately by intolerant occupants. as the rate at which the birds are coming in are sometimes overwhelming, we have established a network of friendws who adopt these orphaned birds. we work closely with other animal welfare organizations in Chennai like the Blue Cross Society and People for Animals. most animal shelters are overflowing with dogs and cattle and there is not even one in the city that is dedicated to birds. we are in the process of establishing a bird care centre in the outskirts of the city. as land prices are escalating, only marginal lands, that either have no source of water or have excess leading to floods during the rains are avialable. as such land that is either donated by animal lovers or leased for the purpose require fair amount of investment if adequate sheltering facilities have to be created. in this regard, we seek donors and funding agencies. i shall be obliged, if through the network, we are put in touch with potential donors. look foward to some response. ranjit daniels
