Guest guest
*Wildscreen India!* *After a quarter century in Bristol, the Wildscreen Film Festival will be running a touring programme of workshops and film screenings in India starting in January 2007, writes Harriet Nimmo, the festival CEO.* *Wildscreen festival in India* *19 to 25 January, 2007* ** *Wildscreen, the UK's largest and most prestigious wildlife and environment film festival, is coming to India for the first time in its 25th year in January, 2007. The UK is internationally renowned in this highly popular genre of films and 2007 also marks the centenary of British wildlife film-making. * *Mike Salisbury, one of the most experienced and respected wildlife filmmakers, is coming to India in January 2007 as part of the Wildscreen festival. His credits go back over 30 years, ranging from the classic Life on Earth(1979) to Kingdom of the Ice Bear(1985), and from Private Life of Plants(1995), to, most recently, Life in the Undergrowth(2006). Perhaps the most telling indicator of his reputation is the fact that Mike has often been entrusted with BBC's 'crown jewels'- the ever excellent film series written and presented by Sir David Attenborough.* * But even those who can't make it to a Wildscreen event can benefit from Wildscreen's other initiative- ARKive. This is a mammoth online gathering of the world's best film clips, photographs and sound recordings of endangered species. This is freely accessible online, and is being visited by more than 25,000 people a day.
