Rhino killed in Kaziranga National Park

GUWAHATI: Poachers have killed a rhinoceros inside the Kaziranga National

Park in Assam, taking the total number of rhinos at the world heritage site

falling prey this year to nine.

 

Poachers from Karbi Anglong district shot dead a one-horned rhino near

Goroimari camp of Bagori range of park and escaped with its horn Tuesday

night, park authorities said.

 

The poachers fired two rounds and immediately fled from the place.

 

On hearing the gun shot, forest guards reached the area and started an

operation to nab the poachers.
