iron in pregnancy

I am pregnant with my 2nd child (due early January). With both of my

pregnancies i have kept to my veggie diet which i believe is pretty

healthy. However, my last blood tests came back that i am anaemic and

the doctor prescribed iron tablets. Even though i told him i would

need a vegetarian iron tablet, surprise surprise, when i got the

tablets home they had gelatin in them, grrrr. I am already taking a

vegetarian food supplement but it only has a small amount of iron in

it. I eat lots of greens like spinach, cale, broccoli etc and try to

drink orange juice etc with each meal to help me absorb the

iron....but i am still soooo tiered. Did anyone else have the same

problem in their pregnancy? any ideas?

sandwiches, brownies, and ice cream.  I also gained 55 lbs and my

daughter was 7 lbs. 7oz.  It took me 2 years to lose all that weight,

but becoming veg took off the last 15 for me.  I love being vegetarian

and haven't looked back since :)

in the next 2 years we hope to try for a 2nd child.  Though planning

isn't our strong suit :) I think being a veg will assist me in keeping

off those extra pounds that pile on fast with the second child.
