Are we dealing with just the normal Indian village assortment, or have large farms or a gaushala been hit? Who is coordinating the regional animal disaster relief effort? What sort of help is needed? E.g., sometimes food supplies have been lost; other times, food is plentiful, but potable water is scarce. Sometimes veterinarians are needed. Other times, people who can repair sheds and fences are most necessary. Sometimes boats are needed; sometimes they just get in the way. After a flood, often the biggest threat is from mosquitoes, so responding to that may be top priority. The more specific the information that people on the scene can give, the greater the likelihood that effective help can be mobilized promptly. -- Merritt Clifton Editor, ANIMAL PEOPLE P.O. Guest guest
thanks for your reply the situation is no so worse as i and our volunteer visited the some of the flood affected areas of Kurnool District in andhra Pradesh. Several domestic animals like cows and buffalows were missing some were taking shelter in the near by hillock areas. Deers and Blackbugs are also climed the hill areas the present threat for this animals were the poaching activity. Kurnool shelter house is totally washed out as per the information available with us. Emergency need of expert volunteer who can take animals toa safer place. The distrcit veternary department is started resuce operations in the district level. We need volunteers and veternary aid are the prime requirement. the fodder postition in the flood area was totally washed out. whereas neighbouring areas were ready toprovide the fodder but this is possible only after the roads were repaired. for a mere distance of 1.5 km we have to travel 11 km near to jogulamba temple in mahboobnagar district. Some animals were in the temple premises which is still having fifteen feet water. Several animal belong to milk vendors missing {approximately 25} most probably died. Our volunteers were distributing cattle feed and fodder to the animals.Presently we are collecting the same from the local peoples. --- Merritt Clifton <anmlpepl wrote: > >hi, everybody animals were in distress following > the heavy rains in > >some part of the kurnool and mahboobnagar districts > of andhra pradesh. > >some hundred animals were missing in kurnool only. > help is required > >any body is ready to give their services to the > flood affected areas. > >please do something immediately. > >Mahesh Agarwal > >9394005600 > > > What kinds of animals are we talking about, in > approximately > what numbers by species? > > Are we dealing with just the normal Indian village > assortment, or have large farms or a gaushala been > hit? > > Who is coordinating the regional animal disaster > relief effort? > > What sort of help is needed? > > E.g., sometimes food supplies have been lost; > other times, > food is plentiful, but potable water is scarce. > Sometimes > veterinarians are needed.
