Guest guest
An elephant calf was knocked down head on by a speeding truck TATA 709 on the Highway near Doboka village in Upper Assam. The calf which is seriously injuured is guarded by its captive mother who is not allowing anybody to go near. Not even the mahout. Rescue team and Vets have arrived at the spot but are unable till reports came in of treating the calf which is crying in pain. Such incidents have become quite common with more and more elephant corridors being encroached upon in Assam and its neighbouring states. With simply no political will from either the state or the central governmental agencies to address the root cause of this problem, there seems to be much more trouble ahead for elephants both captive and wild in Assam and the northeastern states.
